Default ecoboost issues

Hey guys,

So my ecoboost is a 2013 FX4 f150. I bought it used with about 54K miles on it, and it was reading 17+ MPG on the dile. I noticed it was having a rough idle, so i did some reading and ended up changing the plugs with the correct gap, changing the coil boots, running injector cleaner through it, cleaning the MAF sensors and adding a catch can. Needles to say hundreds of dollars later it still runs like crap, my MPG is usually around 15 city and on long road trips it only hit 17.2. The catch can removes tons of stuff, but it has an odor, i smell it in the cab sometimes. Is this thing just a piece of junk or what? I am highly disappointment with it, i wish i could just return the damn thing. I checked the TSB and it looks like the intercooler is the updated version also so it shouldnt be having the condensation issues. im at a loss, i bought it from a toyota dealership of all places too so I cant seem to get them to do anything with it, warranty and all.

your truck has a rough idle still? The numbers you are getting are pretty normal actually....I'm not sure what the landscape is where you live, but in city I get 14-15, freeway I get around 17-18 IF I keep it under 70. What truck is it (Super crew, Super cab) What gears (3.31/3.73?) those will all play into the MPG.

Overall, other then the rough idle and what not it doesn't sound like there are any major issues. You do realize you can take it to a Ford dealer and have them look at it for the warranty stuff. I assume it's still under factory warranty (assuming under 60K) If so, have them check the rough idle, it could be a number of things. Just throwing money at it isn't the answer, diagnose it. The plugs, boots, and cleaning stuff doesn't hurt, but obviously it wasn't your problem.

Screw the toyota dealership. Take it to a ford dealership for warranty work.

the crappy idle could because of crap has caked up on the backside of the valves, or the idle is low, I took my intake off clean the backside of the valves and seemed to help it, but once I put SCTX4 and modified the idle from 550 to 600 or 650 it idle **** ton better it was actually nice and smooth like it should be.

Correct. Could be buildup on the valves. I have the idle "bump" in the seat when cold. I have replaced the plugs, drilled the weep hole, and recently added a CC. I may try upping the idle.

Pull both MAP sensors out of the intake and clean them. That helped with my idle a TON.

I don't have any suggestions other than what others have made on the idle, but your mileage is similar to what my 2014 crew cab fx4 gets.

I'll echo others saying that the gas mileage is normal.
