Default Ecoboost help

Sooo...I had an issue yesterday with my 2012 FX4 EB SCrew. I had been driving in a very heavy downpour at 55-70 MPH for about 1hour. Wife and three kids, along with a crap load of camping gear onboard.

Got on it to pass a turtle and it fell on its face. No power to accelerate, tried to accelerate again once or twice and nothing really happened. Pulled off in turn lane, shut off AC and a few other things, reved it a few times, and then drove off. In and out of heavy rain rest of way home, and no more issues. I immediately assumed the intercooler condensation issue was to blame.

My question to those of you with the IC Condensation problem: Does the service engine light usually come on when it occurs? I called service rep today and scheduled an appointment for Wed. I also questioned him about IC issues, but he wouldn't really bite. He said it wasn't likely the case with mine because no idiot lights fired on dash. He said it could have been traction control in heavy rain. I can't totally rule that out either, but there weren't any traction control warning lights on either.

Help much appreciated!!

Easy fix. Step one, remove radiator cap. Step two, remove the truck with ecoboost. Step three, replace truck with any other F150 of that year that does not have an ecoboost, such as: the 5.0. Step four, put radiator cap back on. Fixed!!! I have never in my life heard of this many problems with any other engine. Shame on you Ford!

I agree. I love this truck. It is my first new truck, and i think its incredible. It rides like a luxury sedan and pulls like a train (most of the time, lol). This issue wasn't catastrophic, but it was surprising.

If everyone could, please limit responses in this post to helpful ones. There are plenty of other threads out there for other types of discussions about this issue. I'm looking for info before I meet with the service manager.

I love my truck as well. But I hate the goddamn power loss. My local dealer is saying that to perform the TSB they have to see the truck perform the issue.....pardon me? I'm pretty sure a TSB is a bulletin that they mandatorily must perform. They also won't give me a loaner, and they will only give me a cab ride to one destination and back, not everywhere I need to go..like work and school. Kinda screwed over if you don't have a second vehicle.

It could've been traction control kicking on since it derates throttle response and horsepower but honestly how many problems have ecooboost trucks had on this forum compared to all other Ecoboost trucks in the country I said a very small percentage

I agree. If there was enough accumulated water on the road surface the TC was most likely kicking in.

From reading other threads on this issue it seems that once it happens it is bound to happen again (If it is indeed the IC). If it does happen again take note of the type of environment you are driving in/through. If it is not raining but say really humid and you experience similar problems then it sounds like it could be the IC. If it happens during a heavy rain though it might be too hard to distinguish between IC and traction control.

Let others who know more about this issue approve or disapprove my comment though. I don't know a whole lot about all this.

I understand what you are saying but there sure are alot of issues with them. I have 4 friends who have the EB in their trucks and all have one issue or another. They love the engine when it is working great but unfortunately that hasn't been often for them. They were actually one of the main reasons I ended up getting the 5.0.
