Well after my intake, MPT tune and 275/65/20 tires, i was disappointed at my mpg. Its been in the 10's. But, i been off work from surgery and limited to city stop sign driving. I had a chance to go to my buddy's house today and got 20.5 on the highway. Did i mention that his BMW 535 got dusted by me on the trip?....

Pros - it sounds better than the 5.0 and cons...none!

Love the power. And mileage is good enough for me. Very happy with the truck so far.

3 months and 2 weeks into my ownership.
EB with 3.31s and 4wd. I came from a 2006 FX4 SCrew like your current ride. Like others have said, the power is intoxicating and addicting. I would manage mid 12s in the 2006 (5.4L 3.73 geared) in town and mid 16s on the highway. Right now I'm mid low 14s in town and around 19 on the highway, but I haven't had it on long runs just yet so that could improve. The mileage does seem to improve as the temps rise with the seasons.

I am driving a bigger, nicer, heavier truck than my 2006 with more power and more "smiles per gallon". I'm very happy with my purchase so far...sure the payments are fun...but I quickly forget about that when behind the wheel.

I'm on my second ecoboost truck. I love it. Yeah sure if you drive it normal it gets the same mileage as the competitions V8's but has more power IMO. What really impressed me is towing my 21' enclosed trailer and merging on the the interstate. Put the pedal 3/4 the way down and the truck acts like theres nothing behind it!

If you drive the ecoboost right you can get good mileage. I've averaged 16 in town and 21 highway.

As a previous Ecoboost owner...

Pros: Plenty of low end torque and impressive 0-60's
Cons: Turbo lag, Timing chain stretching/timing chain tensioner issue, CAC stumble issue, exhaust manifold leak, turbo bearing issues, blowoff valve issues, "meh" hammer-drop passing power on the highway, mileage.

Snowball's chance in hell I'd ever own another one.

Rymax...funny you said the part about it sucking gas in cold..I thought I was a weirdo because a 15 degree drop makes mine suck about an extra .5 mpg down.

Whoa! Debbie Downer here!

Yes, Hardcore got a bad one but there are thousands of us that have great ones.
Will definitely get another when the time comes.
Lifetime average of 18 mpg with almost 3 years on it!

i just came from a 13 ram sport to my 13 ecoboost fx4! I love this truck and engine. I have an sct 93 tune and nothing else yet and it dusts the ram's! I'm playing with rt chargers.......in a truck! Plus I'm still getting great fuel mileage! I go by litres/100kms and my ram combined highway and city driving like a grandma was between 21-21 ltrs/100 and my eco driving it harder and tuned i'm getting 15.5 right now! I'd say in my experience the fuel mileage is way better thn the v8! I'll never buy another engine/truck combo! Gof for it, you won't regret it
