I was just looking into the same thing...I have always tuned my own cars in the past with standalone EMS's. Would sure be nice to just adjust what I want.

I have the hp tuners software that I used on my Grand Prix I had. There is very little to no info on the Ecoboost and I'm not to experienced in tuning. I have read my ecm and looked at the file. There are LOTS of things that can be changed.

I have a canned tune now and looking to expand it.

Hey,

The VCM suite is excellent for your application. It contains more parameters that you need than SCT. Plus the DMR logging in the Scanner is superior.

Tuning the Ecoboost stuff is complex though. Best to start with the base, and work your way up from there.

Cheers,
-Matt

Although not an ecoboost, I use hptuners on my 5.0. As long as you have experience tuning it is really user friendly, although I would recommend taking a class or two before you try tuning for the first time. With the ecoboost being a boosted engine, it is a lot easier to destroy the engine if you make a mistake. Their customer support is great, and the online forums contains a bunch of very knowledgeable guys willing to help if you get stuck or have any genera questions.

Are you able to read the canned tune? I.e. Could I read whatever tune is flashed on my ECM including custom tunes, etc.? would be nice to combine all the good things I like of each tune.

I was able to read my canned tune. However it came with error saying Validate Checksum Failed, unable to flash file or something similar. I can't say for certain it can read other aftermarket tunes, as I only have the one brand.

I still am able to see all the data in the canned tune and use the "compare it" feature against stock file to see differences.

Wow, thanks for the screenshots, very interesting! I assume there are full fuel and ignition tables as well? Looks like a lot to tweak. But, just because there is a ****...doesn't mean you need to turn it (even though it is always tempting...) It would be awesome just to have control to fine tune some things. Best case for me would be to pull some of my favorite tunes and make some small adjustments and dial them in. As good as many of the tuners are via email, there is still room for dialing things in.
