Rebates, MPGs, first year engine, ROI, Premium or Regular, I don't care. I'm going to buy one because it's a twin turbo DI gas V6 that can tow a small house off the foundation. It's just cool.

(But I am saving my pennies and waiting for the end of the year clearance, if there is one)

I had a 1997 f150 with a 4.2 v6. No more first year engines for me.

I had a 1987 F 150 with the 5.0l sequential multiport injection "first year" Same for me. Never again. Let some "newbie" be the test guinea pig. That was a most frustrating year. <sigh>

Directly from the owner's guide, 2nd printing, page 293:

Octane recommendations:
3.7L V6/5.0L V8/6.2L V8 engines
Your vehicle will run normally on 87 octane regular fuel. Premium fuel
will provide improved performance.
3.5L V6 EcoBoost™ engine
Your vehicle is designed to run on regular fuel with an octane rating of
87 or higher. For best overall performance, premium fuel with an octane
rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using
premium fuel will be most noticeable in hot weather or in severe duty
applications such as towing a trailer.

I wonder if the engine specs given in the sales brochure used regular or premium gas during the testing?

The engineers said regular gas. They also said Premium would be even better for towing.

That statement is NOT true for all markets/zip codes/areas. My zip code (33029) includes the Eco on ALL rebates.
