I was just told by my mechanic that my truck needs an bank 2 sensor 1 oxygen sensor and he says it's $340. That does not seem right to me.

a motorcraft sensor is $66 + shipping on rockauto (find a 5% discount code here on the forum). With ramps or jack stands, a 3/8 ratchet and an O2 sensor socket you can do this yourself in under an hour. If you can change your oil you can do this. May need to give the ratchet a good whack to break it loose. Dont touch the sensor end with your fingers.

i would also wanna know what brings him to that conclusion - is there a check engine light or is going ready fire aim with the parts cannon

I had the check engine light on so I stopped at O'Reilly and had the guy plug into my truck. He said it's Bank 2, Sensor 1 that is bad so I purchased it and when to the mechanic. He said I got the wrong one. He said his computer shows Bank 2 Sensor 1 is bad and I told him that O'Reilly's computer said the same thing. He said "well this is not the right part"

what part number do you have?

the 2 rear sensors are the same
the front sensors are different because the driver side (bank 2) has a longer harness

$340 in labor is ****ing bananas.
