Default EB injector cleaning schedule

When I took my truck to the ford dealership for its 3rd oil change(15k miles) the service writer informed me that my truck was due for injector cleaning. I asked if she was sure because my truck only has about 15k and I was told that this was indeed recommended according to the book. I have never heard of this before so I thought I would ask some of the knowledgeable people on here if they could verify if this is a necessary maintenance procedure. The service is pricey but if it is something that needs to be done to keep the truck running good I will have it done.

Hi Pat! Sounds like the dealership is wanting to make a little extra $$ to me.We normally recommend the decarb and injector clean at 30k at our dealership.
By the way,i shure like my new wheels you brought me.

Hey Mike, thanks for your input. I'm glad you're happy with the wheels, they look good on your truck. What tires did you go with? I'm actually thinking about buying another set of the Raptor wheels.

I ended up going with a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers in a 285-70-17.I wanted to stay with a 4 ply,and it was between those and the B.F.G. Rugged Terrains that were on back order at the time.

What does the dealer use for the decarb and injector clean?

Our dealership uses BG. the kit comes with the decarb agent which is sucked down the intake, then shut the engine off and let soak for a little while before restarting, then a can of spray throttle body cleaner used to clean the upper intake and throttle body, plus a bottle of injector cleaner that goes directly into the fuel tank. The decarb agent is some strong stuff, and it needs to be done outside because when you start it back up,you won't believe what comes out the exhaust!

Good choice of tire, very popular tread pattern. Could you elaborate on the procedure for cleaning the injectors and the carbon buildup? Would using a injector cleaner like BG 44K be beneficial to use periodically?

You could do that with seafoam or I'm sure the equivalent BG product in your driveway for a helluva lot cheaper than what the dealer will do it for.
