I've been using this method since 2011 as I remove my tailgate for the salty months and you did a great job explaining the process with pictures!!!

I'll admit to not having even tried, but how about if it has the factory tailgate assist?

Not sure what you mean? Lift assist? All of these trucks have that. And it has no effect on removal.

Is it possible to remove the camera from the tailgate and replace it? I want to get a Snugtop Outback for my truck, and the tailgate will be permanently removed. There is a spot on the Outback to install a camera, but the truck top sales company states they don't know how to relocate the camera.

I'll try again:

Do you have the wiring diagram or pinout for that connector you disconnected? If I have that, I can wire up a new backup camera to my truck top.

Thank you!

Default My tailgate was almost stolen

MBollock,

I have a 2014 F150 SCREW. Theives tried to steal my tailgate but thanks to the tailgate lock I still have it. In trying to steal my tailgate, they punched out the cylinder in my tailgate handle. I need to replace the cylinder, but some other punk will try again. Do you have any after market tailgate handle you recommend that is known in the industry as unbreakable?

The "clip holding the wiring" I can't see it well on mine. Is it something I'm supposed to pull to unclip, twist, else? I wouldn't want to break it.

Thanks
