Default E85

I decided to try E85 in my 2010 5.4 this last fill up. I put 33 gallons in and was watching my Torque App with the E85% display. I was surprised when it only went to 55.7% considering I only had 3 gallons of 87 oct left in the tank when I filled up. Has anyone else notice if the ford sensor is just not very accurate or is there a possibility that the E85 I put in was only about 55%. On just 87 oct it would read about 5%.

I plan to run 1 or 2 more tanks of E85 but will probably stick with regular after that. When I filled up it was $0.70 cheaper and I figured I would give it a try. I normally get about 500 miles out of a tank and with the E85 it is looking like it will be about 400 miles on this tank.

.70 cents cheaper is a lot! It usually runs .10 cheaper here in TN. I have got some that seamed more like E50 and some that was more like E85. I too have 36 gallon tank and fill up about once a month. I don't have any tunes and is 100% stock. But the butt dyno likes it. I have had a tank that chirped the tires when it shifted into 3rd!! I usually get 16-17 mpgs ( non highway) on 87 and E85 I get about 12! I run a tank or 2 every couple of months to clean the injectors and such since it's a solvent.

Will it really clean the injectors while running e85? I've got the option to do it but never have. Also not sure if the cheaper is better with almost 100 miles lost

Well we can wait for someone to chime in, I'm no expert or mechanic but you are putting more fuel through your injectors with a lot more ethanol in it.
