Default E-Brake Sensor?

BEEP!! BEEP!! BEEP!! "dammit, truck... the e-brake isn't set!".

Anybody know how to fix this? I pop my ebrake off completely, but the truck still thinks it's set. It's maybe the most annoying thing on the planet. I imagine something just needs to be cleaned or something... no clue where to start looking. Anybody?

Try google searching "Parking brake issue" I'm sure you'll find post after post about it.

It looks like there are a dozen different issues with these parking brakes. Most of what I am seeing do not match my symptoms (hence why I am here). The lever full releases (with gusto). The brake itself isn't sticking. and if I press and release enough times, the chime will stay off until the next time I accidentally use it. I wonder if the switch is just going out.

Is your truck a 2012 crew? if so Google TSB 12-2-3

Basically Ford can install a slightly shorter cable that causes the parking brake light to go off when the brake is released. Mine needed this done at ~ 10K miles (was free then) and has been fine ever since ~80K miles.

Edit:
Weird, when I first posted your sig was not visible so I could not see what truck you had....

The light is telling you the opposite of this. How did you measure it? It's usually a hardware issue on the pedal or the brake switch.

I have this problem, i'm 99% certain it's the brake actuator levers sticking/locked up in the rear hubs.

I didn't measure anything.. I am just referring to the fact that the pedal, when released, releases all the way up to it's highest position with the built in spring. A lot of what you find when doing a google search, are people's who's springs have weakened and the pedal doesn't come up all the way. If they use their hands and pull the pedal a little higher, it goes off. Mine isn't doin that. The pedal is all the way released to the top. Once I get the sensor to stop dinging at me (by re-releasing a dozen times), it will stay off forever, until the next time I forget and use the brake.

Had the same issue. Break was fully released. Ending up being the sensor where the pedal is supposed to make contact. Or something like that. I had it fixed under warranty. If I hadn’t, Id be able to give you a better run down of what it entails.

I'm of zero use to you, but I do have the exact same issue you are describing. I've stopped using the parking brake altogether, which is not the best course I know. If you do find the solution, please post it here. Thank you.
