Default Dual climate control issue

2013 Lariat SCrew

This weekend I had a friend riding with me and they tried to set the temperature on the passenger side but it wouldn't work. Even turning the **** all the way to LOW could not get AC to come out of the dash on the passenger side, it just kept blowing hot out of the foot vents. When I turn off the duel feature and just control both sides from the drivers ****, it still wont work. If I crank down the driver side ****, I get AC out of the drivers side but hot air blowing out of the dash on the passenger side. I tried putting it on dual and moving the passenger **** up and down to see if maybe the blend door was stuck but that didn't help. I am outside of warranty and don't have much money to pay Ford So I'm hoping this is a somewhat easy fix that I could do? Is this a common issue?

Blend door. They break. I'm not sure which one it is, but there are several of them. The parts themselves aren't expensive, but they are pretty labor intensive.

weird update; So I was playing with it at lunch just now and its not just the temp setting that has issues, but also the selector for where the climate comes from. If I have it on single climate LO, I can get air to blow out of the dash on both sides. the drivers side is cold while the passenger side is hot. If I put it on dual and set passenger side to LO, no air comes out of the dash, It only comes out of the floor vents.

Blend door issues, depending on which one it is, the dash may need to be removed.

So there are doors that I don't have to take the dash apart to replace? How do I know which one it is?

Operate the passenger and driver side temp controls and position controls and see what responds

i just dealt with this issue on my 2012. It is the blend door on the passenger side. The part is like 38 bucks but it is a pain in the butt to fix. You have to remove the infotainment system/hvac controls to get to it. Took me about 3hrs but some claim they can do it in 1hr.

the other blend door on the driver side requires removing the entire dash which im told is +8hrs of labor at a cost of $1,000 or so.

It seems this is a common item with f150s of this era. Shame on ford for not using more durable components as i dont consider this to be normal maintenance, especially on a 6yr old truck that i purchased brand new.

Great! Id much rather just remove the screen and the controls than have to take the whole dash out. I watched a youtube video on that and you have to take the seats out even.
I also feel that having to replace this item on a 2013 is ridiculous (I bought mine new as well). I rarely even mess with the controls on the passenger side. Normally I just have it set to single zone and it stays at 73. So its not like this thing is getting tons of wear and tear.
