Default Dry Filtered CAI's?

I have been looking at Volant Cold Air Intakes. I have found a couple that sound pretty good, but there is a pretty large price jump between the two (about 80 bucks). The more expensive of the two is a Dry Filter intake system. What is the difference between the two? And is the dry filter better for any reason?

A dry filter doesnt use oil to clean the air. Its more like the oem filter then say a k&n style filter. I would only use a dry filter because if you do not get the amount of oil right that you put after cleaning the filter you either let in dust/dirt of you suck in oil from the filter.

So the Volant CAI with the Dry Flow Filter would probably be my safest bet?

I recently put the Volant CAI in my truck. I went with the dry one. The main reason that I decided to go with the dry one is that I didn't want to have to worry about getting the amount of oil wrong on the other one. It's a pretty nice CAI though. I have no complaints at all. It didn't take very long to install it either.

I got mine from Autoanything.com during one of their 10% off sales. They usually have at least 1 of those each week. That helped to knock off almost $40 of the price.

exactly, thats why I will never put an oiled filter on any of my vehicles. I have a AEM that had their "synthetic dryflow" filter, not a paper one like some cheap companies. Works good and much safer.

In my opinion you should check out the afe cai with the pre oiled filter. It comes with the perfect amount of oil on it and give you more HP and air flow. Here check this out! http://www.afeintakestore.com/144399...ord-f-150.html

That is true its pre oiled but when you need to clean it are you going to buy a new filter? I think not you will clean it thus adding oil and will it be the right amount? Have fun. Dry flow for me if I was going to get one
