Drop in liner noise
Hi all - need some help. My 2013 fx4 is at the dealer for an overnight visit. I have a Ford eom drop in bed liner that I purchased when I bought the truck new back in march. It has always off and on made this weird noise over rough roads, bumps, etc. well it finally became a constant noise so I took it in today. My dealer says it is the liner banging up against the bed. It is a super annoying noise!! They have no idea how to fix it. Apparently they were on the phone ford trying to get ideas. No luck so they asked to keep it overnight so they can back to it first thing. Kudos to my dealership for not telling me to take a hike!
Has anyone else had this issue? If so...how did you fix it?
Would love to have a quiet riding truck but don't want to waste $$ to have to replace the liner with something else if I don't have to.
Thanks in advance for any insight....

Not a big fan of this type of liner. Each to their own. Perhaps you could remove the liner and get a caulk gun size tube of silicone adhesive and put large spots on the bed and the bed walls where you see it had been rubbing. I am sure it will be several places. Then have a friend help you put the liner back in and press it up against the walls and floor and let it set up overnight. Should help, but might be a PITA to remove should you want to later.
Buy a bedrug and throw it on top. Voila, no noise!
Mine never made noise, but I would thing the bedrug would help by absorbing the vibrations and sound. Plus, stiff didn't slide and bang all around. And it's much more comfortable on the wife's... Ok, that's about enough detail.

Just thought I would update my thread. So after another unsuccessful visit to the dealership a few weeks ago to try and narrow down my mysterious rattle, Ford has finally found it.
Their first thought was that it was the drop in bed liner. I told them it wasn't from the beginning, but hey what do know! So, they thought they had "fixed" it by messing around with the liner. Turns out that wasn't it.
Second and third visit, they couldn't hear it. Fair enough, it does come and go.
This time I just went in without an appointment, and was able to take the Service Manager for a ride. "No doubt, something is rattling back there" he said.
Great! Finally someone admits they can hear the same noise as me and I am not insane. My dealer pays for a rental car and has my truck for 2 days. They removed the bed and everything trying to pin point it. Turns out it was my back window. They removed and and re-installed, re-sealed, etc.
Cab is eerily quiet now. I have had this rattle off and on since I bought the truck.....
Best part is on ALL my visits to the dealership, I said it sounds like it is coming from the rear window....which is weird since the window itself never visibly moved, etc.
Either way, don't care, my truck is quiet now and that it all I care about. Have to applaud my dealer for not telling to F off with all my mysterious noises and numerous visits.

Great news that they found and fixed the problem.
Now you can concentrate on finding a BedRug. Look at Craigs List first - you may find a good used one. If none there, they are fully worth the retail price. It will make your truck more enjoyable and save your knees when you have to crawl in the bed.
When your wife (or girlfriend) is not so happy, all you need is a blanket to sleep in there comfortably.
