Default Drivers Window stopped working for 15 mins.

2011 5.0- had just rolled window up, gone into a store and when I got back, the D side wouldn't go down the whole way home. tried opening and closing door, etc.

When I did get home, I shut it down, started up, still wouldn't work.

Shut it down, removed and inserted key, started again- then it WORKED.

Clearly some kind of electrical issue... Can't be a fuse because they don't just start working again. Truck is garaged and nothing could have been wet.

Anyone else seen this happen?

Thanks!

Same thing happened on my 2012 XLT. This happened twice during the 70km I put on it. Just on the driver's side. No idea what caused it. It was inoperative for about 10-15 minutes as I recall. I did all the things you mentioned. I had forgotten about it until I read your post. Good times...

Mine stopped working on my 2012 XLT for a few minutes one morning too. This was about 4 months ago and it hasn't happened since.

I had this happen one time on my 2011 lariat in the 50,000 miles I've had it. It was about 2,000 miles out of warranty and I was pissed and then the next time I drove it everything was working fine. No problems since then

I know I've read about the speaker wires working themselves loose. I'm not sure if the wires are soldered or not, but you could possibly have a bad/loose connection in between your DS window switch/module and the actuating motor. The only way to know for sure would be to tear into the door and check all the connections or have a trusted shop do it. If it's not that, then you start getting into a possible defective switch/module or actuating motor.

Several have reported similar on here.

Had this happen few times randomly.
Drive to work and window won't go down for me to badge into gate.
Park truck and shut off then it decides to work. Other times it doesn't work until end of day when I'm leaving.
Happened maybe three times in 3 years.

Same happened to me Monday, was actually going to make a thread on this. Sorry, not much help here. Did the same as you, shut off truck, pulled key, opened door, tried again and it worked.

It's gotta be a crashed system, only resetting the variables (shut off, key out, etc) got it to work again. These things are lousy with computers, and while they're not exactly Windows Millennium, they do crash on occasion.
