Default Driver side seat heating/cooling problem

I have a 2010 Lariat Screw with heated and cooled seats. The passenger side works fine. The driver side cooling works fine if that is all I use. However, if I turn the driver side seat heater on, it shuts off within a minute. Then when I push the heater button it stays lit for a second and shuts off. Same with the cooling - push the button and it stays lit for a second. If I shut the engine off and restart it, it starts all over again. Seems like a relay, but I don't see any relays described in the owner's manual that are specific and common to the driver's side heating and cooling....any ideas?

Subscribed. I've got the exact same issue in my 2010 Platinum.

just put a new lower cushion (updated) and insert (updated). My old one was crushed and would not warm up and I had a little heat coming up the back. Replaced it in a couple hours and all is well now.

Did you have the same symptoms as I described? i.e., did the button light up on the dash and then go out? Or did you just lose heat? It sounds like you just lost heat. In my case there is no heat and the lights go out. The heater was working great right up to the start of this problem. And I'm not sure why bad heaters would make the seat A/C not work either.

Edit: I just re-read my post. I don't want to sound unappreciative, as I do value your comment and suggestion! I hope I didn't come across that way!

Have you tried anything yet? I will be taking it in to the dealer for an oil change and headliner replacement in a couple of weeks, so I'll have him look at it if I can't get it resolved beforehand. I'm sure we are not the only ones who have experienced this - someone's got to have the answer. And it may be the seat heater as suggested above, but I don't want to start replacing parts until I'm confident that is the problem.

Are there wiring diagrams available for the climate control/seat heater circuits?

After rereading your post, I don't have the exact same issue after all. My cooled seats seem to work fine, but the heated part does just like yours. I've only had it three weeks, but I'd like to figure it out. Hopefully I'll get a chance to get the dealer to look at it soon.

Heated and cooled seats use the same ducts, I changed the filter on the bottom of the seat first and still had the problem finally broke down and it all works great now.

Mine was not crushed enough to hit the shut down which protects the blower unit for the heat and cool. That is how far yours sounds.

BTW I work for a Ford Store and the Master mechanic here is who I listen to when it comes to a problem with my truck.

I do not take it a being snotty or mean you are just another truck owner that needs help and I am doing my part in letting you know what it took on mine so that you do not spin your wheels trying.

So the seats are heated via air ducts and not a heating element under the seat? I haven't taken the seat apart (nor do I really want to just to investigate), but I thought I'd seen pictures posted here of shorts in the element that people repaired by soldering the wires back.
