Drive cycle for computer
I finally bought a SCT programmer for my truck. My inspection was due. When the mechanic took my truck in for the emissions machine he said my computer monitors are not ready to go yet. He asked if I had a check engine light on or disconnected the battery lately? I said nope, it's probably the programmer I bought for it. ( it was a local shop, not dealer)
So he tells me there is a Drive cycle I have to follow. And said just drive the truck like you normally would.
Well, 500 miles later... Only the evap reset it's self.
I still have the HTR, CAT, CO2 monitors that don't wanna be read. I did the 0-40mph 3 times
25-40 mph for 4 mins
65 let off the gas and coast to 40 -3 times...
I've had enough.. Plus trying to do this lame azz drive cycle I almost got ran into 10 times.
I like to stick this up fords....
Anybody have any other suggestions?
Thanks .

I'm sure it's the P1000 code that came up. That code basically means that the computer hasn't fully completed a complete run through. Only way to get ride of it is drive the truck. Speed doesn't matter.

There's a procedure for clearing the P1000 code. http://www.obdii.com/drivecycleford.html
Some, possibly all I don't really know, tunes/tuners turn off all of the emission readiness testing protocols so unless you return to stock, you'll never pass your inspection. This was one of many reasons I gave up on my 5* tunes.
Try returning to stock, drive the truck according to the above procedure or just drive it for a few days and you should be fine. If not, well you're going to have a bad experience at the dealership, unless they are mod friendly.

I tried that procedure. I just never returned the truck to stock. I thought it was ok to leave the tune on. And it is a 5star tune.
Let me reset the truck back to stock and try it out.... Thanks guys.

Finally passed emissions.
Returning the truck back to stock did the trick. I then put about 25-30 miles on the truck. Drove half highway speed( 55-65mph) and half city driving. Stop and go traffic. That did the trick for me.
And thank you for your concerns Richard.

You have to return to stock every time you get emissions done. I forgot one time, pulled out of bay, returned to stock drive a round the block and it passed. No crazy drive cycle.
I would never give up my 5* tunes just because I have to reset to stock once a year!
