Open the passenger door, remove the fuse panel cover, pull the kick panel cover off, Look at the back of the fuse box. You will see a vertical sticker with a large bar code and a large Capital Letter at the bottom. The factory code is at the top corner toward the passenger seat.

you can get it from the dealer w/o them having to plug your truck in. i drove up there and gave them my vin number and thats all he needed, so i dont see why you couldnt just call and get it

is it possible to disable the factory code from working altogether? i know it can be changed but in the manual it says the factory code will still work even if you add your own. i'd like to disable the factory one unless the battery is pulled or reset.

No, the factory code cannot be changed. It is almost like a serial number in the computer module.

No- it can not be disabled. This is why you need to set up a temporary code if you are having your truck worked on. After the work is finished, you can erase the temporary code. I did this once when I was dropping my 08 off to have have some work done. I locked the keyss in the truck and gave them a simple code to gain access.

After doing much research, I could not find it either on the web, tore my whole truck apart following instructions from various forum users. I determined that there must be a code somewhere, so I found it in the most obvious of places... On the back side of the fuse panel!!!

On the passenger side, if you pull back the top of the right kick panel you will be able to view the back of the fuse panel at a sharp angle. There is a barcode sticker there, the code is a on the bottom left of the sticker if you are viewing it plainly, it is the first 5 digit number. I promise this is true. To program you own code, type in the factory 5 digits, within 5 seconds push the 1/2 button then within 5 seconds enter your code, when finished push the 1/2 button again, the truck will lock and unlock to verify your code was set. Good luck
