Default Doing the right thing?

Been looking at a 4x4 for years. Looked into one a few years back. Had A plan and coulda had a XLT for 27500 in my driveway. Passed on that cause I;m dumb I guess. Anyhow, went shopping again the past few weeks. Found a 2011 XLT with 30k on it for 26500 in my drive. Hate the color. 2011 with 60k on it for 21k in the drive. This truck has had the rear end replaced twice now hence why it got traded in. OR a 13 stk with the 5.0 for 31k in my drive. My main concern is, is it a deal or not. I believe its a good price, don't believe there is ever a deal anymore buying a 4x4. Snows piling up and i'm tired of 4x2 s10 getting stuck. Biggest motor I've ever had was a 5.0 in a 94 150. Any advise. I can afford any of the payments, but there is a diff between want and need. I'm really thinking about the 13 but gotta move quick cause the incentives end. Dealer won't tell me what might be offered next year.

Is the 13 used? How many miles? I think you can negotiate a better price.

Are they all 5.0?

Look at the StX and make sure you can live with the interior it offers.

I'm nervous, this dealer has been screwing me since day one. I've walked in the door with 25K cash for a truck they had stickered at 26k. Offered 25K cash right then, told me doesn't matter where he gets the money, me or the bank. Walked in to buy a used ranger.... KBB at 7K. He had it stickered at 9K. Offered KBB 7K. Wouldn't take it. AND I WORKED THERE AT THE TIME. I guess maybe I should slow down and see what the new incentives are next year. He "did me a favor and got me the X plan". I remember the price being 28K plus taxes etc.... After Christmas I'm going to take the truck for a drive and really sit down and talk. What would be a good pre tax and fee price. In MI we have 6 percent sales tax. What would be a fair OTD price no trade in.

The 13 is brand new, i'm happy with the interior. Ive never had a really nice truck. Thinking about just buying new, never had a brand new truck. I'm not a huge fan of the jump seat, but ive read I can change that out for the XLT easy. I like basic. Upgrading from a 03 Sonoma reg cab 4 banger 5 speed., 4x2 No power. I like rubber mats, spend way to much time in the woods and worry way to much about stains and scratches for a luxury trim. I probably will buy a new truck and not drive it for two years in fear of scratching it.

I think it a very good decision to shop around at other dealers. You might find a truck you really want and a dealer more willing to negotiate. If you do not have to rush, don't.

Haggle the sticker, then the trade with the salesman - try to get a perk like a bedliner. You can then haggle the warranty with the Loan officer - and walk out of that conversation/celebration with free oil changes.

Ahh - new. That stx sounds like it will meet your needs, perfectly. The 5.0 will be bitchin compared to your Sonoma. I also must have rubber mats (I have kids.)

I still recommend going to at least one other dealer...

You'll love the STX. The only thing I wish my STX had would be rear defrost and heated mirrors like my XLT does. Other than that I have no complaints. And the 5.0 is a great engine too
