Yes the chev system does shut off with the brakes. I work at a gm dealer. EVERY auto start shuts of when you touch the brakes. It's a mandatory safety feature so you'll just have to get used to it. I also have a problem evey so often with it shutting off especially after I get done drivig our ranger stick shift. But without that feature it would be way easy to steal a vehicle that is running with an auto start.

My last remote start was a Viper system and it worked the same way.

No! Mine is not even THAT convenient On mine the motor stops when I open the door. I WISH I could get in with it running and put the key in!!!

I even took it to the dealer to see if they could change it and I was told that Ford would not let the dealer make any changes! Grrr

I am use to getting into the vehicle, putting my foot on the brake, keys into ignition and turning over the key to start the engine.

When I use my auto start, I have to get into the truck, put the key into the ignition, turn the key and then apply the brakes.

Even if I have the key in the ignition, and have not turned it over yet, touching the brakes will cause it to stall. Not trying to be difficult, but how is this a safety measure? Is not the safety mechanism built into the gear shift?

And don't get me wrong, I understand the concept that pressing the brake pedal allows the gear to be shifted and therefore I am answering my own question in my mind as I continue to type this post that is obviously going nowhere..........

Just have to get use to changing my habit of brake, key, start to key, turn, brake, shift, drive.

Do a search. It has been discussed many times and you can change it yourself.

Manatee, go to my profile and you'll see my direct email listed. Email me and then I can send you the Ford programming file that tells you how to change the option settings so it no longer shuts off when opening the door.

I believe another solution is to simply cut the door ajar input wire from the remote start system wire harness.

if you unwire the brake remote start it and drive it away if you get out before it times out (remote start) it will stay running.
