Dirt King Fab 09+ Long Travel Suspension Kit Preview!
#41
I've been curious about this kit for a while, but one thing in the description kinda vexes me that I'd like some clarity on. It says that 4wd kits utilize OEM replacement shocks with 800 lb springs. Am I missing something? Are they not any longer or different? meaning could I utilize my boss coilovers? Any insight would be welcomed.
EDIT: I found part of my answer in that apparently I can keep using my current coilovers, but what are the limitations of doing so. Also, due to the changed geometry, control arms, and arc, how much front height can you viably add with this system?

You found out you can use your coilovers? Last time I checked dirt king said that you can only use king, fox, or icon coilovers because they have a smaller rod end that fits into the shock mount. I'm not sure what size the boss rod end is tho so you might. What's the travel numbers on the boss coilovers? The oem series are 8" coilovers so you need to have a 8" stroke for the kit to work. Lastly, you can only get 3" of height out of cranked coilovers with this kit. It sits at oem ride height when installed.
Edit: just remembered that you need an upper rod end on your coilover so it can pivot correctly as the suspension cycles. So the boss won't work because it has a solid cap on top. Also I really wouldn't put a 2.0 steel bodied shock in place of a performance 2.5 aluminum bodied shock with remote resivoirs. They are not comparable to each other at all and the performance of your suspension would greatly decrease from what it should be with the shock it was designed for.
