Difference between Bilstein 5100's and leveling kit
#21
I wouldn't say ride "smoother" but rather firmer...they seem to hug corners better, but are a tab bit rougher on speed bumps
And there are multiple advantages to the 5100s including less wear on moving components and a tuned shock specifically for the amount of lift, but the main perk is that the 5100s limit downtravel so parts like tie rods, ball joints, and the cv axles are not overextended and stressed when you hit bumps or go offroad

That's good to know; I never minded a slightly stiffer ride anyway.

I do love the stance with the front at max and the AAL in the rear...gives you a slight rake

Have you experienced anything unusual that could be attributed to the higher setting - or - have you heard of anything like that?
BTW - I LOVE the stance as well. That's exactly what I'm looking for as well.
Nice job/truck.

all good info in here.
The slightly stiffer ride doesn't bother me, im sure it will still feel like I'm on a cloud still compared to my STI suspension.
A leveling kit just seems to be the easy/cheap way out. I'd rather just do it once, do it right. So the Bilstein's seem to be the better choice as far as longevity and increased ride quality (within this relative price range). $260 more than the cost of a leveling isnt even a concern on a 40K+ truck IMO.
The Rancho quicklift seems like an interesting option, although a little more expensive. Does anyone actually adjust them regularly though? I feel like it would be a set it once and never think about it again thing.
Does anyone have the Bilsteins with Deaver springs in the rear that can comment on the ride?? The stock rear springs seem to make to back end a little jumpy and rough and I have heard good things about the Deavers to fix this.

Also when I fill up the bed or tow a trailer, I put it in "tow/haul" mode and it doesn't seem to bounce and feel too soft when I hit dips in the road.
I like it, I can tailor the ride to whatever I'm doing at the time. But if you don't spend the coin on the Myride controller, you may never get out and reach under your truck to adjust the shock setting.
Also the quick lift comes complete with new struts and springs assembled and ready for you to put in.
Keep in mind these adjustments do not alter the ride height at all, only the dampening characteristics of the shocks. So it feels like I have several different shocks, a highway shock, offroad shock, sport shock, and one I can custom tune to my desire, all with just pushing a button on my handheld wireless controller.
