Didn't want to shift
On a "cold" day of sitting outside, I jumped info my 2012 Ecoboost with 57,xxx miles on it.
Started her up to head home and it wouldn't shift out of second gear.
I pulled over into parking lot. Turned it off. Waited. Started it up and same.
Pulled over again into another lot. Waited. Put it in reverse to get out. Shifted smoothly into R and then into D. And still wouldn't shift.
I stopped again and then proceed trying to shift it using the "manual" shifting. Nothing out of first.
Then stopped. Started again, and all went great with no issues knocking or hard shifting. As smooth as silk. By this time the engine was nice and warm.
No wrench or warning lights on dash. It was in 2H the entire time
This was Friday and nothing like that since.
Fortunately this was in downtown streets where traffic was slow and light
Any thought?
Have not gone anywhere to see if a code was thrown.
Thanks in advance

I trust no Ford Stealership.
That sure sounds like a lead frame issue. If so, you got lucky and encountered the problem opposite of most people. A common scenario is, the problem (which I think is loss of signal from the Vehicle Speed Sensor) manifests itself at cruise speed and the truck slams into 1st gear. Get it in ASAP and step on the service writer's toes until he/she listens.
Twice in 142k miles my truck has had symptoms people associate with transmission lead frame failure. Both times exercising the control cable plugs to clean pins/contacts solved the problem. First time was at <60k, second time maybe 30k ago, so about 110k.
One cable end is passenger side toward the back of the trans. Other end, passenger side engine compartment firewall. Might be an easy fix.

You also contradicted yourself by saying you don’t trust dealers/wouldn’t go to the dealer, but would have the recall done if they came to your house? Makes no sense to me.
It says a lot about the type of person your are when you won’t give up some of your day to get a recall done that could ultimately save you and others on the road from getting in an accident.

There is another recall out that involves updating the PCM calibration.
I found this annoying too, they said they need my truck at least half a day even with an appointment for a stupid software update.
