Dee Zee EZ Down Tailgate Assist Kit
#231
How did the install go on this model? Seems like DeeZee should redesign their unit.

Installed my DeeZee kit today. Nutsert was a joke, had to break it out with the BFH and just do the raptor mod. Much better! Blue loctite and I hit the ball stud with an impact very lightly to ensure it never breaks lose.

There is nothing wrong with the nutsert, mine has been holding strong for 2 years and I'm not the only one with such longevity.
Inexperienced installer is where the issue is at.

I'm pretty handy with tools and understand how the nutsert works. It failed me twice! The first was due to following the instructions at 9 turns and then when that failed and screwed it up I called and got another with the "it's more like 12 turns" from the manufacture.
In both cases they failed. I do get into the bed of the truck several times a day so I guess if you are using it lightly a couple times a week then the nutsert may last longer.
There are way too many people with the same problem for it to be installation ignorance.

I will say though trying to tighten a round nutsert in an oblong hole makes it even more challenging.
So yes, installer error. Justified but it is what it is.

Well then it is not the right design for the majority of "Amateur's"

Same here, the stud broke off mine due to the weight of the tailgate step over time but the nutsert is still holding strong, lol
