Dee Zee EZ Down Tailgate Assist Kit
My local supplier tells me the EZ down kit has been recalled as it was breaking. Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed and is ok to buy now. Also, my tailgate has the step so it is little heavier. I am looking to install this on my 09 F150 and wondering what the experience has been for other so far?
Where is it best priced and backed by warranty?
Thanks

I installed one a few months back and like it. They are hard to find now but I got it through Amazon for about $40. The only problem I had was the first shipment didn't include any mounting hardware, just the strut. I contacted DeeZee and they sent an entire replacement within a few days.
I followed the instructions exactly and used a heat gun on the shrink tube and haven't seen any of the reported problems with the cable getting jammed by the tail light.
One thing to do is to make sure you order the right model. For the 2009/10 F150 you want the DZ 43200. Amazon's figment guide isn't real accurate.

I bought one last year for my 2010. It worked great and my only complaint was that the tailgate took so long to lower. When I traded in the 2010 I took off the DeeZee to use on the new truck. My 2011 has the step and stripper pole, so the tailgate is much heavier. The tailgate comes down MUCH faster now.
I have had problems with the cable getting in a bind, but it gets better as the cable starts to conform to the new shape. You just have to be careful when you close the tailgate for the first month or so.

Thank you all for your feedback, it is good to hear that it works well.
It is time to go ahead and buy one.
Jmy.Yates: Would you happen to know the brand name or part# from OReilly Parts? I called my local store and they have not heard of anything like this.
Cheers.

i paid about 30 bucks for mine too @ a local store. they had to order it though.
one of the best things i've ever done to my trucks.
never had any issues. what so ever and if someone did, it must have been installed wrong

Do a search, there is a big thread on this with alternate mounting inductions that work better. There are also two designs, i've had the old original one for over a year with no problems, no step though. You will find lots of info in the main thread on this
