Default DECKED Storage System

Hey guys! I was lucky enough to be chosen to try out the DECKED storage system for the bed. First off, I have the 2013 F-150 FX4 6.5 bed. I just installed the storage system this past Saturday so I have not yet had a chance to really try it, but luckily I have some camping trips, hunting trips and motocross track days coming up very soon and will post pictures and updates as I test it!

Installation Process: The installation of the DECKED storage system roughly took around 3.5 hours for me and was a fairly simple process. Opening the DECKED box, there weren't too many separate pieces; until you open the parts cardboard box...it can look a bit intimidating pulling out all the bags. But then you realize they are all particularly labeled and have direct instructions for each part and all the hardware included. As you start to put together the storage system, it seems really less intimidating. I have to give a round of applause to the guys at DECKED for labeling all the part bags accordingly to the instructions. That was a HUGE help. I did not have to watch any installation video because the instructions were very detailed and informational, lining up each part and hardware with each step. Number and letter. I was also very, pleasantly surprised that not one screw, or hardware piece was missing. Each bag had exactly the right amount of hardware needed for each step installing the system. I would like to suggest to DECKED maybe providing an extra, small parts bags for customers in case they lose them or there is a miscount. The decked system fit very snuggly in the bed of my truck. Perfect sizing.

I would have to say the hardest part of the install was installing the levers and the wheels near the tailgate. It took me awhile to get the pin lined up through the parts for the lever. As for the wheels, I had to use a buddy of mine to help, and we had to try different things such as, pull the drawers all the way out, then almost all the way in, hold the drawers up and to the side to and try and wiggle the wheels into place. Another suggestion for DECKED is that the hooks that hold the storage system in place in the bed tend to stick out a lot. I'm not sure if you could possibly make them shorter or not.
I am someone who puts my truck through hell. This means driving through thick branches, cactus, offroading, rocks etc. I cannot wait to put this system to use and test its capabilities, as well as store all the gear that comes along with my interests (hunting, camping, dirtbikes, skiing). I also want to test out its capabilities hauling a dirt bike on top. So far, it has definitely wowed me. The DECKED storage system looks sick in the back of my truck and I can only imagine how awesome it will be once it gets put to some good use. I will be updating as I test it. So stay tuned and thanks DECKED for the opportunity to test this product out!

I am posting some pictures of right after installation and then some I took today. It was a little dusty from driving on some dirt roads.

Hey Thanks HardCoreOffroading!
Great write up about the install and glad to hear it went smoothly. Can't wait to see you put that KTM on there and get out and put the system through its paces.
A couple of notes on your notes:
1. While you can definitely do it without watching our hand installation video, there are some tricks in that video on installing the handles and the wheels etc. You are the opposite of most dudes: skip the instructions, watch a video and wing it!
2. The j-hooks being long: yes, it's a little bit of an issue that has to do with hardware kitting and needing to leave extra for some vehicles and where the the tie downs are located. Now that you know how much hook you need: mark it about 1/2" above the nut and cut it off. It will save you the hassle next time
3. Great idea on extra goody bag of hardware pieces. Maybe we can implement this at some point.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

These might make your DECKED system a little more functional as well...
