Here's my story: Took it in for the first oil change to the dealer nearest my home, not the dealer I bought it from. Told the service writer "it takes 5w-30". Paid the $45 and headed for home. Got about halfway home and looked at the reciept, they put in 7 qts of 5w-20. Now I'm mad! I told the guy 5-30 and it's printed on the oil filler cap 5w-30! And it takes 6 qts! Took it back the next day and they put the right stuff in but I'm done with dealer oil changes. And I'll never go back to that dealer for anything! I'll try another dealer 25 miles away and see how they do but I'll do the oil changes and keep records.

Is there any way your can change your own oil, and have no issues with warranty In the future? By changing it yourself, can they void warranty? Because I really do not feel comfortable allowing the dealership to change it, especially since I worked at a lube place, and I know what goes on in places like that.

YES...all you need is to look at your owners manual and make all the scheduled maintenance and keep the receipts of your oil and filters, and the date and mileage when the service was done, that way your covered if there's any questions down the road...

The tinfoil hats around here are hilarious.
I'm not worried about the work "Ford" is doing. It is the lazy kid working in the shop that I'm concerned about.

The oil should be Conoco Philips bulk oil which is who bottles Motorcraft oil.

I paid the dealer $70 to rotate my tires and do the second oil and filter change at 7300 miles and have since wondered if I got either one, because at 9600 miles the oil change alert popped up. How did that get missed? It's simple to do and probably easy to miss but I was expecting better from a dealer. I'll probably do my own from now on.

I would never trust anybody to change my oil unless I see it done. Which excludes the dealer in most cases.

People pay somebody $30 or $40 or whatever for the promise that they change their oil? Really? LOL, that's funny!

THey probably forgot to reset your oil life calculator. I just took mine in last week to get changed and noticed they forgot to set the oil life. Paid $60 bucks for them to do the "works" which includes synblend motor craft oil and filter. I was happy with it and I'm not worried about it either. I change mine every 5000 miles and most oils (especially with oil technology today) can last much farther than 5000 miles but it gives me a peace of mind.

Yeah but we also have proof that if there was a problem and it was caused by bad oil or the oil not being change, etc., then guess what, we don't pay for nothing because we have a record and so does the dealership that they changed the oil.

Now, once my warranty is up, i'll change my own oil but I have a long time before that.
