Dealership is asking a mint for my old truck...

To be fair....those contracts were negotiated. Its not like the companies aren't as guilty as the unions are for driving up prices. AND a lot of vehicles are made in Mexico nowadays where the wages aren't not 35 bucks an hour.

No truer words were ever spoken. They certainly didn't hold a gun to my head to pay that kind of cash for my 2012.....
I just wonder how sustainable the whole thing is. I mean...in order to keep our economies going we need to consume.... Couple that with job losses in the middle class and I wonder just how long it will be before none of us can afford a new truck simply because I don't make the kind of money I need to in order to buy new.

How's she goin' eh?
Jeez....do those guys really get paid that much? I'm a tradesman and get close to 40 dollars Canadian for what I do.....I'd gladly take 35 US for that.

Someone else mentioned about the camaro, yea it's up near Toronto. Charger might be built up there too. Corolla is built near London, caravan and T&C are built here in Windsor.

Sometimes it does. My truck came from Canada and when the dealership I bought it from bought it at auction it was listed as having 53k miles so tjhat's the price he paid for it, as if it had 53k miles, it turns out that it was displaying kilometers and so when it was imported, it was correctly changed to 33k miles and then he sold it at a pretty nice discount. I paid $31k and it blue booked for $36.5k. Nice little small town dealer paid it forward.

I know this is a gen previous to mine, but I just wanted to share...I WAS going to buy a 2016 Lariat SCrew 502a 2wd, and trade in my 2016 XLT 302a Sport SCrew...with nav, twin panel moon roof etc.....and the dealer, a few different ones said they would give me 28K....it has 4000 miles on it. lol I KNOW they would have turned around and priced it at least around 35K... I still have my XLT because at the last minute the sales manager tried to increase the price of the Lariat by $4500......

The dealerships always make money they say they might have been upside down on a deal etc but i don't buy it. I always deal separately on a trade and new truck. I almost did a deal on a 16 XLT sport loaded with the twin panel moonroof and nav. They were going to give me $38.5k for my 14' FX4, only showed me $3k off the truck. They play with the numbers, my payments would've been the same, I wanted more the dealer was crying foul claiming he was losing money to keep me happy i said nobody is forcing you to make the deal if you want out and it's so bad for you just say so....they wouldn't.
It won't be long and we will be paying $80k for a basic truck it seems like they keep going up and up every time I talk to the dealer. I have a good system with a close friend of mine, neither of us is allowed to sign on the dotted line until the other guy says it's a good deal, learning to walk away at the dealership is hard but learning to do so has paid off.

yeah, maybe. If the XLT sport is 4wd, supercrew, 5.0 or 3.5 eb, it's a pretty good deal. Although it's still $4k more than the one you bought a couple of years ago.

things I now have: nav, console shifter, sync 3, twin moon roof, heated seats, NO CHROME , remote start...the list goes on of new things. I'd imagine a '16 XLT and I'd have paid about 4-6k less! Actually might have made a few k lol
