Default Dealership is asking a mint for my old truck...

Wow, the dealership is asking $26k for my 2013 STX:

http://www.metropolitanford.com/cert...earchDepth=1:7

I just looked at my paperwork, and I paid $31k for it out the door when I bought it new in 2013.

Granted, it's relatively low mile, and I took good care of it, but that just seems really high. I wonder what they'll actually end up selling it for.

In any case, I didn't do too bad on the trade all things considered. Had plenty of equity towards the 2016, and dropped my payments by $150/mo, for a better equipped, more expensive truck (Sticker on my 2016 was about $48k, before a ton of rebates, etc).

I'm in the market. If they'd take low 20's, it sounds like a decent price. I'm assuming they're nowhere near Memphis or Tupelo, MS though lol.

IMO these car companies are going right back to where they were before the last big recession....gouging customers on pricing. Not sure how bad its getting down in the US but up here in Canada car loans are being offered out to 96 months just to get the payment down to manageable levels.

I paid too much for my 2012 but that's because I had to roll in some negative equity I had on my 09 Ranger. I still owe 19K on a truck that isn't worth it. Sad really.

That said....it has been a great truck. No problems whatsoever. Just clocked 110 thousand kilometers today.

Just bought a 2013 STX SCab, 5.0 V8 with 40k miles and paid $24K. Thought it was a good deal. The dealer had installed new front brakes, new tires and I talked them into a new Rugged Cover rigid trifold tonneau cover. Another dealer wanted 26k for the same truck.

That's why buying new with rebates is the way to go.

3 months ago I got 30k for my '14 302A SuperCrew XLT 4x4 5.0 v8 with 20k miles. I had paid 32k in 1/15.

They sold it for 33k like a week later. These trucks are expensive either way you cut it. But I agree, almost seems like with rebates new is the better option. Compared to certified where depending on when you got your truck during the model year, it's possible they resell it used for more!

That's ridiculous, I just bought a 2013 Fx4 super crew with 37,000 miles for only $31,000 and I'm in your neighboring state. For only 5k more you can get full rear doors and move up two trim levels.

That is priced very high for it being an stx

They're hoping some chump will show up with a POS and they will offer big trade in.

Who pays what they're asking for it? They've got to ask $26k because some knothead like me is going to try to cut them off at the knees with an offer of $22k anyway lol.

I agree, at least in 2013 and 2014, it was better to buy new when the rebates were high rather than to try and buy slightly used. They raised the prices so much on the 2015's and up, they're still too expensive after $12k in rebates. From what I'm seeing anyway.
