My wife's CR-v I find to be a PITA because of the belly pan under the engine...I did it one time and frankly, it sucked.

I always used Napa Gold or Purolator PureONE filters and Mobil1 when I did them though.
Good point. I know my pan won't hold 8 quarts... I pour it into a container that holds enough, maybe I will position it under the spewing oil...

Just had my '11 for "40,000 mile service". Free since I just got the truck 3 weekz ago. Oil change and multi-point inspection. Read the service manual while waiting, surprised at the long service intervals. I tried to get more things serviced (T-case, trans, etc.), and the tech told me it was completely unnecessary! Realize this was a "free" job, but this was the first "no, you don't need that" for me.

Not had a dealer offer that on mine but like the comment about shoving the manual in the Service Advisors face. I had a tire rotation and they just went from front to back (i marked them before going in). Had them take it back and do it as the only way shown in the manual.

Sad thing is it makes it hard to trust people anymore.

What's the reason for this?

Wal Mart sells one that holds 5 gallons and has a capped drain spout. I was like $6 so I bought one and don't have to worry about spilling over no more.

might check it out if you have a way mart nearby?

That dealers don't follow their own manual so they do things wrong as in recommending transmission changes when they should not. You cannot trust dealers in their recommendations and just best to follow the manual. Why do you ask?

No just for the way the manual describes to rotate the tires?

The dealer can't even follow the manual how to rotate tires so how can you trust them to properly tell you when to change the tranny fluid when the manual says otherwise.

I always have all my own work except for trannys and diffs but i have no covered area to work on it when im at school. Plus it was -7 when i took it in. Its hard to turn down 40 bucks for an oil change and basic check. Hell you cant hardly buy the oil and filter to do it yourself for 40 if you buy quality stuff.
