Dealer pushes 30k tranny fluid change
This is the 3rd oil change at this dealer and everytime the service guy has pushed a tranny fluid change. I politely declined due to 1) it was changed at 20k for a tsb in the tranny and 2) the manual calls for 100k intervals. Id understand him pushing 50k if it was a commercial truck or i worked it hard. Also mentioned if ford found it that critical ford woulda put a damn dipstick on it so i can check it regularly. Sad thing id this is one of the better dealers ive went to. They havent watered down my washer fluid or left the keys in it as it sat on the lot overnight. Its odaniel on fort wayne btw.

Mine tried to push the fluid change on mine yesterday at 36,000 miles. I don't have any bad things to say about the dealership, have always been easy to work with.

They're holding-on to the 25,000 - 30,000 transmission fluid change policy that was recommended for the 4R70W with MerconV. *Prevented / eliminated transmission shudder.
According to FoMoCo's scheduled maintenance of the 6R80 it's 150,000 miles regardless of the use (normal | towing | off road | etc.). I won't be following that schedule and will probably use 75,000 miles for a filter change and flush.

My dealer also said I needed to get a fluid exchange by 48,000kms. He said it would be $500, I respectfully declined, seeing it as just another way for the stealership to make a buck. Last time I was in for an oil change the service tech told me that Ford released a memo stating my transmission didn't need it. Good news for me, I wonder how many people were conned into this before the memo!

My dealer pushed a few items when I went in for my last oil change, I declined then all. While I was waiting, I pulled the owners manual up on my tablet and walked over to point out that nothing they recommended was due according to the manual.
There is not much recommended before 60k miles. Transfer case is recommended at 60k, I'll probably have it done at 45k (drove over 1000 miles in 4wd Christmas week alone).
Brakes I'll probably do myself this spring before camping season begins.
Have not decided when I will have the transmission done but I'm only a little over 40k right now so not for a while.

I hate when dealers push stuff, I find it real annoying. I also hate when they want $100 for a part and I can find it from a dealer (not from eBay) for $75. I never take my vehicle in after the free oil change except for sometimes the free multipoint inspection (I watch) or recalls. I do my own oil changes. My 2010 Fusion, with 42,000 miles, has nothing in the manual beyond "inspect" and I have eyes just like the dealer.

I always used Napa Gold or Purolator PureONE filters and Mobil1 when I did them though.

I brought mine in last week for a "B" service (which included a caliper service) only because I didn't want to crawl around in my driveway in the snow. When I pointed to the "B" service the Ford dealer listed, I asked "So according to this, you change my fuel filter too right?"
His look was priceless, while he was guessing if I knew it was a lifetime filter or not (thanks to you guys).. the he politely said that's a typo.

The only time my vehicles are taken to a dealership is for warranty work. Otherwise, they go to a mechanic that has been working on my vehicles for about 20 years.

I'll trade mine in on a new one long before it's due a trans fluid change. Probably around the 70k mark. Unless something happens. (knock on wood)
