The chip honestly was pretty hard to catch just by a walk thru. I found it while i was washing my truck down at eye level washing around the lugs.

I sent him an email to the service advisor earlier today, no response yet. Will try to find service managers info for an email as well. If i don't hear back from either of them by tomorrow i'll be passing by again.

Iv'e been taking pictures of my truck from all angles before leaving it with the dealer. Haven't been there much, but I don't take any chances.

How big is the chip? If really small, I would probably try to touch it up with as close of a paint match as I could find and then call it good. It would probably go unnoticed by anyone else who happens to look at your truck. This is assuming that you can't get a new OEM wheel.

A wheel re-finish would be a very last resort. Even if it does look the same when you first get it, there is no guarantee that the coatings will perform the same as OEM. I know people have had good experiences with refinishing, but not all refinish shops are equal.

I feel your pain though, since I'm far pickier about things like this than most people.

Touching it up is probably a decent solution but its the fact that they chipped it and i know its not the OEM finish if i did so. Im just as **** about my vehicles, even more so that i bought it brand new.

Update: Went back to the dealer this morning and had the service manager look at it. He seemed helpful and was sending the pictures taken initially to ford for warranty work. Now if they deny my claim for warranty work i will have to take it up with their service dept as they did the damage.
Also sent a picture of my taillight as it has something between the reflector and lense from the factory. Another thing i found while washing it.

Why would Ford pay for something the dealer caused (chipped wheel only) ? it is the dealer's responsibility, I think they are just stalling it, this is not a warranty issue.

If ford denies the claim, which I'm sure they will, i'll go about dealing with their service dept to get it repaired/replaced

plasti dip is a peel off rubber that causes no harm to what it has been applied to... do a little research bud.

Ummm. He seems to understand. Plastidip will make it look worse than a chip.

Latest: Taillight is getting replaced as it has something in between the lense and reflector under warranty. Wheel was denied, but will be getting touched up. If this is not to my satisfaction i will demand a new wheel. Hoping for a good turn out.
