So is it the last circuit that you posted you ended up using?

Also, how do the fogs react? Do they still go out when highs are put on, or do they run all the time?

Great work!

Cool glad to know my brainstorming wasn't for nothing! I have similar drl LEDs installed, when I do my hid retrofit I'll install them inside the lens

No- the cct in service now uses a simple 12V/5A 2 pole relay, a bypass switch (2 pole), a 6-12V reed relay to drive the LED strip, a 10uF capacitor and 2 shunting diodes across the relay coils (to remove relay spikes, standard stuff). I will draw it up soon.

Fogs will turn off with highs, that is the way the truck does it right from the SJB. Since the fogs go off with highs, the lows will as well, exactly the same as OEM.

Thanks kidastra, good idea about using the fogs as the trigger.

If the lows go off, this won't work with a Bixenon HID setup then?

EDIT: Just re-read your Post#51, I see I can get away from having my ballast shut off using a relay triggered from the highs to feed the ballast, and use a diode (What size?) to prevent backfeed, but I'm still slightly worried it'll flash the ballast, causing wear over time.

sorry never noticed your post, a 1n4002 diode should be ok, and try some bench tests to see, I don't think it will flash. you could also just run a switch for your high beam solenoid, I rarely use my high beams so I could live with a switch.

Did you get a chance to draw this up after? My retro's should be done soon, I'd I'd like to have my Halos run as DRL, and not have my HID's constantly on.

Thanks Platinum_Sean, much appreciated! I really want to use my Halos as a DRL.

Sh!tty pic..

Basically, I cut the L and R headlight lines at the SJB, routed to the relay which is powered by the fog light line. If the fogs are on, whatever the SJB spits out, happens to the headlights (either DRL mode, or fully on if dark or manually on). I leave the headlight switch in Auto mode with the fogs on in auto as well.

With the truck running, no fogs manually on, the L headlight line powers a second relay, which powers the LED DRLs. I added a 10 uF cap across that as the DRL is a chopper (on/off) cct, the cap reduces the chatter.

I also added a bypass switch in case I want to return to OEM fast.

All connections are on bullet type of connectors for easy plug/play.

It works perfectly.
