Default Dash Cam

I have a dash cam i use to use religiously in my Yukon Denali. I sold that, bought the truck (2012 F150 XLT) a few years ago, and never put it in. This fall, my wife hit a deer, and insurance denied the claim as comprehensive saying the damage was not consistent with a deer hit. So instead i had to claim a collision, higher deductible and they raised my rate. Bye Bye insurance. Anyways, I am putting the dash cam back in. Right now just plugging into the Sync USB, but have to unplug everytime I shut it off as that stays powered. Does anyone else use a dash cam and hardwire it? If you did, what did you connect. I connected to the power for the sunroof in the Yukon Denali, but my truck does not have this. Any ideas? Also, do you trust the suction mount or do you mount with adhesive?

Ready...Set...GO!

There is a fuse in the passenger kick panel. I believe it is fuse 38, but not 100%. It will be labeled 12V accessory or accessory delay. Just buy an add a circuit and wire the power to there and ground it and done. Mine is done that way and powers on and off w/ the truck.

I just use a cheap action camera that clips into the dash using a go-pro mount.

Seems to work pretty good, even in low light.

It's battery powered, so I can either charge it using the USB ports or just take it out of the truck to charge over night, which is what I usually do.

Looking at the A119. Can I simply just run it right out the box to the cigarette lighter electrical output?

I just installed mine again. The first time was to the overhead console, but I had to press a button on the camera every time I started the truck. This weekend, after a year, I ran power from the battery to the camera. It’s always on now.

Sure. But, I think the A119 is expecting the 12v to be off when you park. F150 12v remains on. I actually just ordered one of these, too. We'll have to see how its parking mode works.
