Default Darkened headlights

I keep seeing this f150 around town and the headlights/tailights seem tinted or have dark lenses. It looks really sharp and I would like to do it to my ruby red fx4.

Looking for experts on how this is achieved. Is it a film tint, spray coat? What is it and where can I get it? Does it impact the brightness of the lights at night?

If you tint your lights darker.....of course it is going to affect the light output. And, if you tint your tailights too dark and get rear ended, you could be the one at fault.
As far as the headlights being darker appearing, you may be seeing the newer HID's in the blacked out casing. Those are pretty good looking on the right color trucks.

Are you sure they are tinted? Newer ones have no chrome inside the lens housing and it makes it appear tinted.

I'm not positive just guessing. Just looked more closely at mine and they have a tint to them, as described above, because they don't have any chrome. It might just be they are more noticeable on the gray truck. I always see him driving but maybe I can catch him and ask. It looks really sharp

They do make a headlight lens tint, I thought of trying it but worried about compromising light output.
They sell the stuff on ebay for pretty cheap.

I may be way off, but its an idea.

I've got them, the lens is clear, it's the black interior of the housing that makes them look tinted

As far as tinted headlights, I bought one set for my first f150 years ago and sold them the next week. Looked amazing but couldn't see anything with them. I'm a fan of tinted tails though. Really sets off the truck.

I get that "it looks cool" but when it comes to safety, its just dumb... ESPECIALLY the idiots that tint their taillights.

Agree to a certain degree. I "tinted" my taillights, but just barely. Just enough to give them a nice ruby red color. What's stupid is when people black them out completely and they barely show the brake lights.
