Be sure all odds and ends are removed from your console before you pull it off.
I used a drill press with a 3/4" forstner bit to drill hole, see below.... does a very clean job..

I wanted a bank of switches as well- air horn, reverse lights, LED flasher control, ... I did not want to drill into the dash anywhere, or leave permanent holes, and make whatever removeable for easier sell in the future.
Using 1/4 oak, stained to match the wood grain, and 3M automotive tape, I made this strip and stuck it on to the side of the console. Easy to remove, no permanent holes, and does not get in the way of my knees (I am 6ft tall).
