Default Crash!

A young girl ran a stop sign and hit me on the front driver's side corner of my truck! So bummed!

My truck doesn't look too bad given how hard she hit me. Still waiting for body shop estimate but looks like a new bumper, new front quarter panel, and other miscellaneous stuff. My truck was not drivable because the bumper was pushed into my wheel. Her little Ford Focus is accordianed and has got to be totaled! My biggest worry is that she hit me hard enough to damage the front axle or bend the frame. My airbag did not go off but hers did...again, her car was a mess!

I'm also worried about the truck being 100% after the fix and towing my travel trailer. We'll see what the body shop has to say...

Anyway, my rental is a 2016 F150 bone-stock XLT but does have the 3.5L Ecoboost. I can't believe how much quicker the new truck feels compared with mine! Any engine changes since 2013 or wondering if the differences are just in the differences in the truck models (mine is a heavier truck, more options, long bed, etc.).

Overall, I'm just sick about this. Just glad no one was hurt. Pics posted...

Glad no one was hurt.

I'd doubt that your truck will be written off. Hopefully it drives true still though.

Just make sure they replace all the steering components on the driver side and double check the passenger side. Hitting the wheel and bumper like that will transfer energy to the other side in weird ways. Should be good to go if it was repaired correctly though. Good luck and glad nobody was seriously hurt.

Your wreck looks very similar to mine. The other car was totaled. I think my total bill came in at around 7k. They replaced my fender, bumper, upper bumper trim, fog light, headlight, CV, wheel(20" black FX4 which they couldn't find from Ford)front strut and lower control arm. I am sure there was more than that. Mine drives just as good as it did before.

Wow, bummer. Make sure they use genuine Ford parts, if it matters to you . I have Allstate, they will refuse to put on anything but chinese knock off unless I pay the difference out of pocket. They may all do it.

You were at fault in your accident.

I'm an agent for Liberty Mutual, we pay for original parts that are considered like kind and quality. More and more other companies are pushing for aftermarket, but if it doesn't fit right you can try to argue it.

With Nationwide I pay extra premiums to make sure only OEM parts are used, it's about an extra $3/month, totally worth it, and when they charge extra to put it in writing you know what they're using if it's not written down.

There have been tests that show aftermarket impact bumpers and other structural parts often compromise vehicle safety in the next accident because they just aren't properly engineered. It's OEM or nothing, good to hear that Liberty Mutual has the right idea.

It's a bit off topic, however my buddy hit a moose with his Civic 5 years or so back. It was a lease and it needed to be repaired with OEM parts according to Honda and the Insurance company. Long story short, the insurance company was billed for OEM Honda parts however they clearly used aftermarket ones. The windshield had no Honda marks on it and the headlights were always fogging up because they were terrible quality. He never went back and questioned them about it since he didn't really care. It's just too bad for the person that bought it coming off lease.
