coolidge,

I'm pleased that you are satisfied with your truck's A/C. It would help us to know the vent temperatures and the outside temperature for comparison.

Thanks

My 2010 doesn't get cool enough. And I've read lots of posts with 2010-2012's having the same problems.

Possible problem with the TEV valve clogged or not opening up enough. If this truck does not have a TEV, then could the fixed orifice be partially clogged?

Can any of the mix doors not be opening or closing properly?

Is there a partial blockage of the evaporator coil?

Is the heating water supply valve to the heater closing completely? If there is no valve, is the door closing tightly?

And on and on. It is probably something oddball, but the questions I asked are all problems I have seen on different vehicles. And they were a bitch to diagnose.

I'm not pulling this out my butt. See previous posts.

Google auto a/c problems and see what can go wrong.
That video was not only technical but was hilarious. He is the perfect example of a ford truck owner. A blue collar dude drinking PBR, all he needed was a slice of apple pie. If this was a Chevy video the guy would be drinking a bud light. Love it.

Below, I noted the outside temp, the inside temp, the speed on the highway, and the humidity at the time.

I fully intend to try the test on my 2002 King Ranch 4 X 4 as well.

Here is the findings of a short trip with my wifes truck.

Outside temp: 95*
Humidity level: 38%
Inside temp at the vent: 40*

My service writer friend, said that IHHO, the following "could be the problem".

1) Undersized compressor
2) Lack of freon
3) Bad sensor...............

ALL if which has been discussed in great detail here.

I will see what I can find out about the "specs" of the temps etc., from him and report back.

P.S. I am going to try my 1995 FORD Thunderbird too. Just for chits and grins !!!!!!
Sherlock,

Thanks for the information. At 95F, your wifes truck does quite well to get down to 40F. Mine can barely do that at 80 or less and that is at the short lived low end of the spectrum.

This problem appears to hit trucks with manual A/C (like mine) and those with climate control. That tells me that the problem lies in a component that is common to both systems. I'm thinking contamination in the system or a sensor. Having the A/C go colder of stay down longer in the cycle would be nice.

I would also like to know if Ford uses the same manufacturer for common components.

digitaltrucker,

Agreed. They only know - check pressure - check refrigerant level - run in a shaded spot - and say all is okay. I believe that they could fix these trucks if they made an effort to look for the problem.

Now you are hitting the nail on the head! As I have said, my belief is this centers around fuel economy!

We need a hack for the computer to control and change this, especially if Ford wont help us!

I have asked twice and not received an answer to: How do you know how much Freon is in the system? They can only answer it is in acceptable range! I assume they are basing this off of Ford charts that are in the troubleshooting OASIS software. You cant know for sure without evacuation and measuring what comes out!

All Hat No Cattle,

Additional info would definately be good to have. I'll tell you, I'd hate to see a couple of the guys who have looked at my truck get that far into its dash.
