Cracked Windshield
That is my main concern at this point.
OMG, a cracked windhsield...
sorry for the sarcasm, but here with our ****ty winters, i'd venture to say 75% of all vehicles on the road have a crack or chip. The windhsield on my truck lasted an entire week before I got the first chip. and then 5 in one week-end on our way to Vancouver, BC.
All chips / cracks are out of the driver's field of vision, so I wont replace it for a while. If it really bothers you, go ahead and spend $400, but there's no guarantee it wont look exactly the same a week later....

I just had my 1 st chip on my windshield Repaired this Thursday 1/4", easy repair and insurance covered it! I'm surprised Ive made it this Long, without a chip! Thankfully my policy Covers windshield replacement, no Extra cost to me!
I don't know where you are located at but I'm in southern indiana...on my last truck which I traded off in November I had to replace the windshield and I quoted safelite and they were about 2x as much as what i ended up paying to have another place do it. I got an OEM windshield installed for $279 dollars and the guy came to my house and fixed it in the driveway. I was a little skeptical at first because of the price but he did a great job and you couldn't tell a difference between the old one and the new one. Other quotes ranged from $500 to $800 dollars.
Safelite was made more to repair 'Gravel Type Stars' before they spread.
I had 4 fixed on my old F-250. They are barely noticeable when done correctly. They still looked good when I recently traded it for a F-150 EB.
A few places will deal with you if you have multiple 'Stars'.

I'm in Edmonton, AB. Lots of snow for over 1/2 the year. Among some ice melt concoction they use on the road they also litter it with sand and fine gravel. Cracked, pitted and chipped windows are common here, if a vehicle doesn't have a chip or crack here I'd be surprised.
In the summer tents pop up all over the city in parking lots of supermarkets and strip malls offering window chip and crack repair. (Autoglass shops also offer this service and from my experience are better trained)
I've had numerous small cracks and chips filled. They inject a resin into the damaged area which help make the blemish less visible and bonds the glass together to reduce the chance of a chip turning into a crack. This also prevents water and dust from getting into the crack which when freeze and thaws happen can increase the rate of crack spreading.
What they've done for me in situations like yours is drill into the windshield at the end of crack and inject the resin to help stop the spread of the crack. So far it's proven effective on my 2011.
Really where I am its a matter of 'when do I stop paying to have cracks filled and just replace the windshield'.
One thing they recommend doing on chips and cracks if you cant make it to get filled right away is put a piece of scotch tape over it to help keep water and dust out.

I am in northwest Ohio. We have had the coldest winter since 1979 and the snowiest winter ever. I talked to my dealer. They use a company called All Service Glass. They are not open on Saturday so the dealer was going to call them Monday and let me know. I only know of one other local glass company and I am going to call them on Monday also.
