Default Cost to UPGRADE(Sync)?

I am new to here and to owning an F-150. I bought an 2010 XLT saturday.... Awesome, I love the truck(pics will follow soon)!! While i was playing with it i did the who sync update checker and it says i have an update im on 3.0.1 and i have to take it to a dealer.

inconvenient but cool with me i can do that. When i contacted a dealer to set a time to bring it in and they said it would be between $49-$98 depending on how long it takes

Is this common or should i contact another dealer for help to find someplace that wont rip me off for sticking a usb into my truck?

Thanks in advance for answering and helping out!

(yes i did search)

You can do this update yourself man. Load the update onto a blank USB drive and plug it into your USB port on your truck.

From what i can gather, it is for device support and improved voice rec. Right now my 4s says its not approved accessory when i plug in the usb.

the update is not a big deal but they want to charge me an arm and a leg for a tech to plug a usb into my truck why cant i do this at home...

Truck is still under warranty i figure these things would still be covered.
