Default Coolant leak

Hi Folks,
New guy here.Glad to be here too.

Have any of you had coolant leaks from the lower degas coolant hose, upper radiator hose and T coupling?
Saw a bit of fluid on the floor of my garage day before Thanksgiving.Drove to my parents about 100 round trip on Thanksgiving Day and parked in garage after I got home.Next day the leak was back.Thought it was oil.Went to dealership to get oil changed and told them about my mystery leak complete with a newspaper I placed under truck the night before that had fluid on it.

They ran it back real quick and they said it was coolant.I've read various accounts online and talked with a repair shop here locally and all said that there appeared to be a factory defect in either the hoses,or the T coupling.

My truck is 6 years old and has just shy of 32,000 miles on it currently.

What are your thoughts on something like this?

Thanks in advance for your inputDoug

Welcome to the forum falshooter. Common problem, experienced it myself about a year ago. It's most likely the O-rings inside the connectors for the hoses. Pegasus Racing makes a hose repair kit to address the leaking hoses / O-rings below the degas bottle. I replaced mine with this kit, great product, two weeks later the O-rings to the "T" fittings were leaking, so I replaced those as well.

Replace both while you have the system drained. I replaced the whole Y connector at the time and also did a new OEM hose on the degas bottle. Degas hose started leaking after about 2 years, installed another that started leaking basically right away. I replaced the degas bottle and knock on wood, no leak for months. Deduction: could be hose, could be bottle.

You also have the option of this, as it's the o-rings that are the issue from the threads i've read on it, glad i don't (currently) have the issue.

My t pipe starting leaking as well. Changed out the o rings and it’s good to go.

go ahead and replace the thermostat and it’s gasket while you’re down there. I’d stick with a motorcraft thermostat. Easy job.

you could also change/flush your coolant if you wanted to use your time even more wisely.

Just replaced the pump on mine and fixed my leak. None of my O rings/connections were leaking from that I could tell.

My O ring started to leak. The O ring was cheap at the dealership and took about 30 minutes opening the hood to closing the hood and I was taking my time. In reality now knowing how to do it cut the time in half.

How do you manage the antifreeze loss? Reuse old?

Update, wonderful, now mine is leaking, part # RTS-1073-1x

This is a good video on it, should be a sticky.

Just replaced the upper radiator hose this week, never saw a leak otherwise on this truck, hope no other leaks occur, currently got 79k on my 2014 5.0
