Default Converting XLT to FX Style

Wondering if anyone has converted or tried converting a base XLT SCREW to a FX style. Like the bumper and changing the grill to match the truck color. Right now its chrome. I have already converted the mirrors with LED turn signals and rear facing turn signals.

Yeah sorta, not really going for 100% fx conversion but just wanted to make it look a little better.

Did you just find a bumper and what not from a salvage yard or did you paint?

Default Plasti Dip

I have thought about plasti dipping but curious how it handles against bugs and what not hitting it at higher speed.

Craigslist and eBay is where I found the stuff. I plasti dipped parts on my old 2005 truck and decided I would never use the stuff again. Worked okay but just seems cheap for such a nice newer truck IMO and was annoying to touch up and eventually peel off.

I tried the plasti dip but eventually it will start to peel and look a little rough, as well as the colors do not match up perfectly, so from a reasonable distance you can tell it doesn't look right. If you are a perfectionist you will not like plasti dip.

I swapped out the front grill, tow hooks, and headlights and tail lights. Got all parts new off eBay. You can resell your old parts to recoup some of the cost.

I paid $500 for the grill, but sold my old chrome one for $150 and it was already the correct color so I didn't have to paint it. I broke even on the tow hooks. Taillights cost like $120, but I sold my old ones for $80. Headlights were like $230 and I got $100 for my old ones.

Only chrome left is bumpers, wheels, and door handles. I actually like this look a lot though. Just enough chrome, but not too much.

I have found a tuxedo black FX grill on eBay for like $285. The taillights are about the same price as you had listed. Did you have any issues when you were switching everything out?
