The BBB is absolutely impotent and unable to do anything.

Actually, that's not true. Ford has a binding arbitration program that is administered via the BBB. They coordinate it and you go before an arbitrator. As long as you are under the original warranty, you can file a claim.

I found out when I went to file a BBB complaint against the first dealer, the BBB sent me all of the paperwork to complete. I completed it, then the dealer agreed to replace the evaporator, so I canceled the process. I was told I could re-open at anytime as long as the truck was under warranty.

Thanks

Can or will a defective APIM have adverse effects on the systems AC: causing poor cooling by causing the evap temp probe to operate out of its specified range?

Default Probe test

I unplugged the OEM probe and connected an OHM meter to it, while the relay controlled the a/c compressor. The probe readings from 100 degrees down to 32 degrees are within the chart specs. The OEM probe is not the problem in my trucks a/c system.

Interesting, I wonder: does the external temp displayed on the display play any roll in the cooling system?

What about the sensor under the driver side panel that measures temp and humidity, sould this also be done there?

Need wo figure out what is randomely telly the probe to cycle at different intervals!

Thanks for the update! Weather here in Houston has been screwy at best, lots of rain and cooler temps. Still waiting for consistent hot weather to take it back in, although the service manager has stopped responding via email after I asked him about connecting a device to the truck and let me drive around so it can record what is going on!

I brought my truck to one dealer a few weeks back, they called the next day and said they got 42" vent temps before doing any work and that's within Fords spec so they didn't do anything. They then said that they even used the thermometer I have in my vent to get the temp. I replied that I don't believe that they got 42", the coldest I have EVER seen it was 48* and that was when it was 75* outside. They again repeated they got 42* using my thermometer. I laughed and said why would I have a thermometer in my vent if I didn't have a problem I wanted to monitor and asked them to prove they got 42*, b they could show me is 51*.

Bring to another dealer, the head tech rode with me and said that something is wrong that his 2011 is much cooler. Two days later they called to say it was ready. They said they replaced the expansion valve. On the 35min interstate ride home my vent temps were just as they were before changing the expansion valve. It cycles between 48-52* but mostly always 50-52*. Later that evening I saw temps of 45-46*. I was excited, thinking I finally had a AC that worked. Drove the truck a few hours after that and the temps were back up to 50-52* and that's where its been staying mostly 50-52 sometimes dropping to 48*. The other day 52-55* was the coldest I could get.

Called the dealer back and he asked me to bring it in and he would personally make sure that everything is looked over again! I will try and bring it in Monday or Tuesday.

Strange, kinda sounds like mine one time. On one visit they replaced the high pressure switch, checked the blend door operation, evacuated and recharged and checked the PCM. I left the dealer and it froze me out! Stopped for lunch, got back in and all returned to previous operation: 44-48 vent temp cycle.

Good Luck!
