column shift to floor shift?
This can be done, I don't think it is as hard as you may think. some of us live in the old age with linkages and mechanical times when most of the new transmissions and tranfer cases electronic. someone on another forum has completed this, once I get more info I will pass it on. I am debating this also, how is manual shifting (if you want to call it that) with the XLT shifter by the way
It should not be that hard. I would think you would need , new plastic trim for steering column, floor shifter complete with link cable to go to tranny, thats about it, I have done this on several other manufactures, usually the steering columns are identical, its just the bolt on parts that need to be changed out. If you find a truck in a junk yard, you are set, as you can remove everything needed for swap.
I did the flow through console on a 2012 XLT but I didn't change the shifter or the flow through for these reasons!
Flow through,,,,, you need to remove the carpet and replace the current channel that supplies the rear. along with that is the fact that the difference between the flow through is the Heater /AC box. now you may be able to find all the parts needed to adapt to the normal box but that may not work also as it may be a different heater box all together. Best thing to do is look up the heater box from a XLT to a Platinum. I bet they will be different numbers.
The shifter,,,,,,, that is more of a problem as to what is needed to wire..... the shifter cable isn't nothing other than a rubber grommet in the floor for the cable to go through,, however you have all the wiring for the tow /Haul, shifter lock, SST, PRS and the indicator lights!! Can it be done???? of course,,,,,, but at what cost as you may find your self in a wiring nightmare or buying many separate harness and connectors. Of course there is also what has been mentioned as in the dash indicator, column, trim and so on. I thing you will have your work cut out just doing the console and making the dash pieces.. I have a link here of what I did if you haven't seen it yet! Good Luck and keep us posted.
