Default CODE P0299 and P0016

I have a 2013 fx4 with the ecoboost. 40,000 miles

Recently I was driving along, in town, when I noticed my truck was very sluggish, not shifting properly and like the turbo was lagging. At highway speeds, I only noticed it when I it shifted down on a hill.

When I got to my buddies, he had a code reader. It showed 4 codes.... P0299, P0016, P0299d and P0016d. I looked them up online and I think it showed turbo underboost and timing chain issues. the codes have been cleared.

My question is do you think my buddies code reader was accurate? and has anyone else had this issue(s). Will the stealership be able to find these codes again or will I have to put up with "we cant replicate the problem"?

I should note that I had the transmission tsb done and Ive noticed the shifting a little sporadic ever since then.

thanks for any info

A code reader is a code reader. If you cleared the codes then they won't see them.

I talked to a friend that works in a Fords Parts Department and sure enough, 40,000 miles will require timing chain and turbo parts, all under warranty THANKFULLY except for the cost/labor for new plugs. My dealership has been awesome to me, not sure if I can mention NorthStar Ford in Duluth or not, if not let me know and I will delete it....

Default Ecoboost 3.5 I hate to say are crap

Hey slammer

I go a P0016 & P0017 at the same time and it was related to my engine light that would not go out and it was main Timing chain and all 4Cam Phasers that had to be changed. They have an internal TSB (techincal service bulletin) I had at 87k miles on my vehicle at the time and it's a known Ford Ecoboost 3.5 issue Ford will not do a recall. And it's a bunch of bull crap. I was able to clear the code and take it in and get the extended warranty. Hell the service manager told me to do that and just clear the code and then come I need and get the engine and drive train warranty to cover it. And that was $1700 vs the $3000 they wanted without the warranty. It's just stupid b/c they recalled the Ford Taurus Ecoboost with the exact same engine issue. They cover the Taurus up to 125k mi but they won't recall the F150. Long story I'm sorry but it's been two month since I got that fixed and now I'm getting the P0299 & P0302 so I'm checking on them now. What did you find with yours?

There is no recall on the Taurus for timing chains....
