Default Code B10F1 help needed

Ok I am throwing a code B10F1 - key in switch

Additional fault symtom:
Circuit short to ground or open

I am trying to program 2 new keys for remote start. I was told the keys could not be programmed until this code has been taken care of. I was told this by a locksmith and he called the Ford dealer and was told the same.

Anyone run into this before?

Does the chime sound with the door open and no key in the ignition?

there is a work down in the factory service manual for this issue

Chime does not sound with door open and no key in ignition.
Even with key in ignition and door open the chime does not sound UNLESS I gently push up or down on key. With key in ignition and not touching it no chime.

What is the fix for this??
Thanks!!!

Thanks!! I guess......
looks like it needs a new ignition lock cylinder.

Or, there must be a switch of some type that makes contact when a key is inserted.

Need to find out what makes contact when a key is inserted in the ignition...........

Follow ups are always helpful to us other wondering gnomes out here! Did you get a new lock cylinder and if so did it solve the issue?

Yes I did. My door doesn't always ding with key in ignition...depending on where i wiggle it. It may explain why my remote start works every other time too.

Now I want to know about the resolution and if it was DIY'd as I want to know about the tumbler rekey kit.
