I have noticed if I hit the traction control button after engaging 4x4 the clunk seems to disappear it's like it's trying not to let the truck slip. Except theres a reason your in 4x4 is because your slipping or stuck...

I have a 2013 4x4 Scab and have not notice a clunk at all when switching between 2h and 4h while driving. I have notice a bit of "bumping" (maybe clunk) when I was turning the corner from a stand still in deep snow, but I believe that was the traction control kicking in.

Hey gang,

If a noise is making you concerned, then I recommend mentioning this to your dealership so you can get some peace of mind. Feel free to reach out to me if you need any additional assistance; I'll be happy to do what I can to help.

To be honest, I'm not sure ... I will check in to that. Maybe mine does clunk sometimes then.

Ya our 2013 does the same thing. Often switching between 4h and 2h when driving around town due to snow and slippery intersections. Always been normal between our vehicles as our 2008 expedition does it as well. In the manual it talks about this being a normal sound.

On the 2013 model it will only turn off traction control if going into 4L, not 4H.

My truck auto turns off the traction control when you turn it out of 2h to 4L or 4H. I guess maybe you could save a few seconds of sitting there waiting for the hammer gnome to say hi.
