Clock keeps resetting itself - can’t set time!
Hey all,
I recently upgraded from a sync touch to sync 3 unit, and everything works fantastically with the exception of the clock, which just won’t allow you to set a time...
The original unit was navigation equipped, but the new unit does not have navigation (as I would be using CarPlay gps anyway).
I try to change the time using settings, clock, adjust time and then hit return button and the new time is saved for a few seconds and then it automatically just resets itself in front of your eyes!
anyone ever come across this issue and have any suggestions? It’s driving me mad!

I think it is RDS that can control that.
I've seen it before actually. Maybe my last stereo in a different vehicle.
No idea why the local station had a poor time stamp, but it did.
I guess the only way to determine that is to pay attention to the clock when you change stations. If I remember correctly, it would restart with the wrong time, not live update when I tuned that station in.
With that said, I don't remember a sync 3 option to implement whatever the feature is called.
It's a long shot.
What are your problems exactly...you cannon set the time, or the time self-adjusts?
There is some sort of clock module (or something) that may need to be enabled with your sync 3 also.

The problem is that the time is wrong, so you go into settings, change the time, return to the previous screen as per usual, and the time stays set to whatever you just selected for about 3 seconds, and then just changes automatically to something else. It is almost like it refuses to accept any new time and only wants to display one single timezone - however there is no timezone setting and there is NO GPS unit with this one, so you can't set or un-set the GPS option
The post I am directing you to explains something about a master clock. And a document that contains additional information.

The post is in the FORScan thread, not sure if piling on in that thread is a good idea unless you've been using FORScan to set up your system.
I'll tag @Airborne_Ape . If he see's it, maybe he can provide further info than the information he gave me in the FORScan thread.
Hi all,
Just an update on this one just in case anyone else ever comes across this issue.
So - If you have purchased a sync3 module from somewhere, and are going to install yourself - Ensure that the module comes with a separate GPS module (even if it's a non-navigation equipped module!), and check that this is in the box when you receive your package.
Turns out that the issue here was that there was a GPS module that I did not notice inside the package (hidden in padding etc), and this GPS module is installed under the dash, and gives the GPS position detail to the module, which in turn sets the clock based on timezones. So make sure you have that and make sure you install it!
I found it and put it in the dash, plugged into the new module and now the clock is perfectly fine.

Can you please let me know how to run the GPS wire from the new sync 3 to under the dash?
