Default Climate control fan behavior

I have an '11 F150 Lariat with auto dual zone climate control (non nav).

If you shut the entire system off in manual mode with the fan on the lowest setting, upon powering it back on all the controls are as they were left EXCEPT for the fan speed. It is set at 100% each time no matter what it was set for at power off.

Is this the normal behavior of the fan in manual mode?

In your options, there's one for quick cool down or quick warm up. It's probably set to ON or AUTO, instead of OFF. When OFF is selected, the last setting is kept for the next use...! Good luck!

OK, I was under the impression this was only for remote start and the auto setting on the climate control. I'll go back and check that option out again.

OK, maybe I'm blind like my wife says but I can't find this anywhere in my options. The only thing I have is under Remote Start -> Climate Control -> Heater/AC -> Auto/Last Setting.

Does this apply to just turning the system on too? When I remote start the system goes into Auto mode. If I just turn the climate control on with the power button it is NOT in auto, just full speed fan.

Humm, that IS odd!! Because in mine, when I switch the AUTO mode off, the fan is NOT at full speed... Do this little test if you will: set the fan speed to say 2-3 bars, then turn AUTO on, wait 2 minutes, and turn AUTO off, and see at what speed the fan will be at...?!? If it's still on High, see your dealer, there might be a programing issue with your unit... Let me know how it turns out!!

You could always do the following test as well: (follow the link)

There is a test for the high speed fan fault... if there's a fault!

I don't think there is a fault in the system, it just seems like from a totally powered off climate control, when you turn it on the fan almost seems like it is in Auto mode even though the auto light is not lit.

I wonder if the system just cranks up the fan if the ambient temperature outside and inside the cabin are high assuming you want that. It's been hot here lately so next time it is cool out I'll see if it does the same thing.

Wouldn't cost you much to run the test and make sure it's fine. Then you'd know it could be a programing error.

As it always been like this?
