Default Clicking evac solenoid

As I mentioned on another thread, I have been having and intermittent stall condition for the past few months on my 2010 XLT Screw 5.4.

Today I noticed that the black solenoid located on top of the intake manifold behind the throttle body but in front of the firewall was clicking loudly it does this for a few minutes then stops for a few minutes. It cycles like this continuously. I have NEVER noticed this before.

Any advice?

Replace it. There is a revised purge solenoid for your concern.

Found your other posts...

This is your issue.

Some 2009-2010 F-150, 2009-2011 Expedition, Navigator, E-Series, Escape Hybrid, Mariner Hybrid, 2010-2011 Fusion Hybrid, Milan Hybrid, 2011 MKZ Hybrid and F-Super Duty 250/350 equipped with a 6.2L enigne and built on or before 11/1/2010, may exhibit a running rough concern, hard start after refueling, audible clicking noise under the hood and/or diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0316, P144A, P1450, P017X, P044X, P045X.

This is a tsb (technical service bulletin, not to be confused with a recall!) to replace the Canister Purge Valve thats located on the left hand side of the intake manifold. Its part of the EVAP system.

Ok, I just ordered one. Im a bit confused though. How is a clicking solenoid defective. If its clicking then I would assume it works. It seems more of a computer control issue telling the solenoid to engage and disengage rapidly. I hope this fixes my intermittent stall condition because I'm getting no code. Also, in the mean time, i hope my fuel tank does not implode. I read that that had happened due to bad purge valves causing the fuel pump and sending unit housing to get crushed.

I changed the purge valve and the symptoms continue. No codes.

It just stalls in gear at a stop after warm up about once every 3 weeks. When it stalls, it feels as if the idle was too low.

There was an article I read regarding the 6r80 sometimes having a bad ball in the valve body causing the torque converter to lock at idle. This seems like a great theory. However, the truck does not jump forward. Plus when I try to restart the engine, I smell a strong oder of raw gas out of the exhaust. I can only get it to start if i floor it and keep the RPM's high to flush things out, so to speak.

It reminds me of a flooded carb.

Any other Ideas. Bad TB? Bad TPS? Bad MAF?

Sorry to hear that didn't work. I saw that transmission check ball prob too, causing torque converter lockup at idle, and stalling the engine, but everything else is a guess.

Maybe clean the throttle body and MAF?

I've searched everywhere For the article about the 6R80 having a bad ball in the valve body. Could someone point me in the right direction to find this?? I'm having the same stalling issue and my truck acts like it has a clutch in it, it kinda jumps forward when letting off the brakes from a stop! Any help would be great. I know it's an old post, my bad!
