Chevy Defector Comes Back Home
At the age of 18 with help from my dad I bought a new 69 F250 4WD “Highboy” and for the next 35 years drove nothing but Ford Trucks. Five year ago I defected to a Chevy Colorado 4X4 and was never completely happy with it. Last Friday I headed to a local Mega Ford Dealer who had 30 F-150’s on his lot and almost went into overload trying to choose one. I finally decided on a 2010 Lariat Super Crew 4X4 with every option except navigation & moonroof. I will say it was a good experience at the dealer, I never felt pressured and the paperwork process was very quick and easy. I’m one happy Ford owner and glad to be back. Here's the one I got

I found a couple of pictures of the 69 “Highboy” and wanted to share how far Trucks have came in 41 years. The first picture was made not to long after I got it, I would guess 1970. The second picture was made in 1972 after a Major remodel of the whole truck. A tree hit the bed and I had to replace it, the one I found was taken off of a brand new ’72 “Sport Custom” it was blue and white and had all the chrome trim on it. So rather that try to remove all the trim I just bought all the trim for the cab, I also bought a new ’72 grill for the front and basically converted it to a ’72 with a ’69 title. I kept this truck until 1982 and sold it for more than I paid for it. I saw it a few years ago and tried to buy it back but the owner told me in short order it was not for sale, well maybe someday….

Thanks for sharing your history and the truck pictures. Good to see how far trucks have come and I hope your just as happy with your new F150 as I bet you were the first time you got in that first Ford.

Love the old Fords, we have many of the 67-72 era trucks. Dad has a 67 F 350 dovetail car hauler in show condition, and a 70 F100 shortbed that was 4x2 and converted to a 4 wheel drive. I have a 72 F100 longbed, Pro street with a 460 Ford racing create engine in it. LOL Love my FORDS!!!! Also like your new ride too. congrats
